Scotland

Admittedly South-West Scotland does not sound like the most glamorous of locations on paper, however it was stunning and our cottage was right on the beach.

We were located in a remote village called Sandyhills. It has to be one of the smallest villages I'd ever visited, I think I counted 7 homes in the village.

Located 8 miles from the nearest shops and town Sandyhills was very quiet and perfect for walking the dog and playing golf.

We spent the week travelling around South-West Scotland visiting different locations including Clatteringshaws Loch. After a long walk we sat down to eat lunch over looking the Loch, surrounded by lots of lovely birds who were after the crumbs on our plates.

Later in the week we visited Loch Doon which has stunning views for miles. We spent hours here walking and taking pictures of the surrounding area.

I really enjoyed my time in Scotland and we will definitely return to in the coming years, but we are likely to base ourselves in a location that is less remote than Sandyhills.

It's only 51 days until my next break to New York in December, which with bright-lights and its fast paced city life is going to be the complete opposite of this holiday, but I cannot wait!
